"With great power comes great responsibility," I guess that's what came to mind after reading this (yes, yes, very original XD). How you wrote America's response upon discovering this newfound "power" was so well-written. And thinking that he can turn anything he wants, anyone he wants (gee, I wonder who?) into gold is quite chilling. Though I don't get the feeling that you made him out to be mad with power, not at all. After seeing something so awe-inspiring (and being so afraid of it at the same time), it would make sense for America to feel that way. He now knows that he has this awesome ability to change things, utterly and completely (like the alchemists tried to do, and I love that analogy, btw). It's a scary thought, but one he certainly can't shake off... well, not that he really wants to just yet...
