pyrrhiccomedy: (I am a terrible person)

Um, nothing clever to go with this. Sorry if I haven't gotten back to you over the last few days (my inbox has filled up to hella intimidating levels: note to self, do not get sick after posting a discussion thread in future). I have been guzzling green tea and peppermints, and whimpering, and have not been very good company.

Please forgive any unanswered messages, or messages from like last week that inexplicably get replies over the next few days, and you are all "wtf? Like I even remember this conversation anymore?" about it. I will be back soon!

...Okay I'll feel bad if I don't include at least a fun Russia fact with this post, so here you go:

In 1992, a Moscow circus left 93 animals on a Japanese dock to make room on its ship for newly bought cars. (Information from the Ports and Harbours Bureau of Yokohama City, Japan.)

I am not saying that somebody ficcing this will cure my plague, but I'm also not saying that it won't.

A drabble

"Ah, Russia-san," Japan said, eyeing the lions and tigers and bears. Oh, my, he thought. How inconvenient. "I think you may possibly have dropped something."

"I'm sorry?" Russia shouted down from the ship, barely audible over the cacophony. "I can't hear. I'll visit again, yes?"

"You can't leave your menagerie here for me to take care of!" Japan said, irritated beyond the bounds of all courtesy.

"Sorry?" Russia yelled, smiling widely. He merrily tooted the horn of one of his many new Toyotas as the ship pulled away from the dock.

On shore, an ostrich started to eat Japan's hair.

Oh no! *tucks you into bed* Do get better soon, darling! Being sick is no fun at all :( Here, have a silver tray brought to you in bed with soothing hot tea and peppermints and extra cozy blankets and a small drabble. And where in the hell do you stumble upon these amazing little fact gems? XD

Ninety-three animals, as reported by Russia and counted, re-counted, and acknowledged by Japan for Japan’s own peace of mind. Ninety-three. As for the animals (and Japan hesitates to assign a general collective. Can a circus be a proper collective noun?), he continues to re-count the bears and other dangerous species as well he can, but the number fluctuates and not always in an upward direction. The average of the sums ends in a fraction, unfortunately, although Russia could perhaps count as half a bear for rounding purposes.

The cars roll in and the circus animals are carted out. Japan watches, biding his time until the port secretary returns.

“My apologies,” says Russia, “for the inconvenience to you.”

“I am afraid we cannot allow you to abandon them here,” Japan says over the sound of cars, and the roars and shrieking of animals.

“No, of course," Russia says. "They are not being abandoned, I could not bear to part with them.”

Japan looks up sharply. “Could not…?”

“Hm?”

“Nothing. Excuse me.” A horse with bells on its harness nuzzles Japan’s hair with what is probably vague gastronomic interest. Japan sighs and strokes its neck. “It will not be possible for the animals to be left here. On the dock.”

“Ah. I see. Where can they be left?”

“It is preferable they be left on the ship.”

Russia laughs. “There is no room on the ship. That is why they are being taken out of it, do you see?” They look at each other in silence. Russia continues to smile. “I must pick up this shipment of cars, Japan. I have paid for them, I think you will find.”

“Yes, Russia-san, and that is in order, but the animals—”

“You do not like them? I am only putting them there temporarily, until…” Russia blinks slowly, and his gaze drifts up as he calculates. “Mm. Well, I am not sure.”

“Not sure,” Japan says evenly.

“Not exactly sure. I think it might end in a decimal. But I will come for them, do not worry!”

Japan blushes in frustration. The horse has progressed to gentle nibbling, and the sound of panting behind him signals the return of the secretary. “The paperwork has not been filed for this,” Japan fabricates, although it entirely true. Paperwork has not been filed.

“Then I will fill it out at once,” says Russia, still smiling. “But I don’t think you have paperwork for this,” he adds, at the same time Japan’s port secretary whispers in his ear, We don’t have paperwork for this!

“Ah.” Japan considers it, and considers the chaos of the circus unloading itself onto his dock. “It seems we will now.”

I actually have no idea, there might been paperwork XD Also not sure about any curative properties, but I hope by chance you’ll feel a little better anyways~ ♥

Cookies! But only if you're absolutely 100% better. If not, then back to your bed rest and tea regimen. /health nazi

Oh, darling... D=

*feels guilty about keeping you in front of your computer for playtiems when you should have been in bed*

Advice? Cut back on the coffee. It always fucks me up something fierce when I'm sick. Lemon tea with honey is your answer. Trufax.

Cut back on the coffee.

I understood every word in that sentence, but it didn't add up to a comprehensible statement.

And please, don't feel bad! You made a day of spluttering and fevers much more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been. ♥

You poor thing. I hope you feel better soon. Also what the hell is so bad that you are trolling the Information from the Ports and Harbours Bureau of random Japanese Cities? Not that this is awesome but... where do you find this stuff?

XD The more random the fact, the more likely it is that I found it on Harper's Index (http://harpers.org/index/). I think all they DO is compile weird statistics. I have no idea why this is a profitable expenditure of time, but it's really useful for writers!

Like, I just searched for France, and I found this stat from 2004: 2000 French people are injured each year from opening oysters. (From the Institut de Veille Sanitaire)

Have fun? XD

Like all the rest said, sleep, lemon tea, all that neat-o keen stuff, but also THINK POSITIVE! If you totally deny that you're sick, your symptons will gradually go away. I promise, it works. Get in that positive mindset! And get well soon, dear.

I totally do this, too! Even if it doesn't placebo away the illness, it keeps me in a good mood. =D But at a certain point...when it's been like three days since I could walk in a straight line...the Power of Disbelief breaks down. =/
